Jordyn Jay

Founder and Executive Director 

Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Jordyn Jay (she/her) is a community organizer, arts advocate, and producer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Black Trans Femmes in the Arts Collective (BTFA). Before founding BTFA, Jordyn received her Master's degree in Art Politics from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Jordyn is a firm believer in the power of art to inspire radical sociopolitical change and is dedicated to using that power for Black trans liberation.

B Hawk Snipes

B. Hawk Snipes is a Non-Binary Entertainer, Style Icon, Model & Social Activist who’s preferred pronouns are “They/Them”. Their mission in life is to produce and be apart of more creative projects within the arts to diversify, entertain, educate and inspire the world.

Miss Mojo

Miss Mojo (She/Her) is a multi-talented Personality, Rapper, Photographer, Poet, +Model, and Artist from NYC. Anointed the Queen of the Trans Revolution, Mojo is an advocate for the Black Trans community, the Arts, Equality, and Love. Miss Mojo is the Artist and the Art.

Asanni Armon

Asanni Armon is a Brooklyn-based Black, genderqueer rapper. They bring an exciting twist on what it means to be a femme in hip hop, and are inspired by Nicki Minaj, Foxy Brown, Lil Wayne, Eve, Lil Kim, Trina, Sylvester, Diana Ross, and Donna Summer. When they aren’t rapping, they are leading For The Gworls, a fundraising platform that assists Black trans people with rent and gender-affirmative surgeries. Morticia Godiva

Morticia Godiva is a Black woman of trans experience, writer and performer based in The Bronx. She creates an authentic narrative through literature, dance, music and performance. Thematically, the truth of self, and our right to determine our own existence is prevalent throughout her work.

Ianne Fields Stewart

Ianne is a Black, queer, lesbian, and nonbinary transfeminine New York-based storyteller working at the intersection of theatre and activism. Their work and she are dedicated to interrupting the exclusivity of luxury by making things like entertainment, nourishment, and self-care accessible to the most marginalized in their community. Ianne founded The Okra Project in December 2018 with the intention of alleviating some of the loneliness Black Trans people can experience during the holiday season.

Mercy Kelly

Mercy is a Brooklyn-based Black trans visual artist and advocate who isn’t here to be your teachable moment. Mercy is passionate about expanding narratives and understandings of what it means to be trans, moving towards re-idealizing the notion of what it means to have a body

Poison LaBeija

Poison LaBeija is a creative, activists, mental health advocate, and the internets first BBW trans porn star. Her life as a transgendered woman and cultural enterprise consultant has made a way for her to cultivate programming for Howie The Harp Advocacy Center as well as being a keynote speaker at Manhattanville College. Poison’s experience makes her an invaluable resource to the TGNC community.

Jamie Lee

Jamie Lee is a Black Trans* women/femme arts-writer and cultural worker who hails from the Bay Area. Jamie is currently in graduate school, where she is studying to receive her Masters and licensing in Drama Therapy. Her therapeutic practice is invested in the exploring and undoing the collective trauma experienced in the lives of Black Trans and Non-Binary women and Femmes through the multiple forms  of violence that impact the collective well-being of their  livelihoods. Moreover Jamie believes these practices if explored through artistic modes can curate new forms of collective and communal living that centers healing at core. Jamie is devoted to the beautiful work that black trans*worlds offer for the liberation of all black peoples across the diaspora.

Linda La

Linda La is a multidisciplinary artist, performer, teacher, curator, host and organizer from the Boogie Down Bronx, New York. Born out of the Iconic House of LaBeija, her work has been articled in both AFROPUNK and The Fader; receiving mentions in The New Yorker, Timeout New York and W Magazine. Most notably, her work can be found archived at the Brooklyn Museum in the “Nobody Promised You Tomorrow: Art 50 Years After Stonewall” exhibit. Find out more at LindaLa.world
